Summer Pain Stopped!

By Brandi Goodman

The summer is often considered a time of relaxation and fun. You get to head outdoors into the fresh air and warm sunshine. However, the season isn't without its drawbacks. Summer pain is still possible if you aren't being careful. Stop summer pain with these tips in mind.

Stretch Before Anything

Some of your pain may stem from aching joints and muscles pulled during your many outdoor activities. You need to stretch before you do anything physical. Whether you plan on swimming, going for a bike ride, taking a walk, or playing volleyball with your friends, you need to adequately stretch out your body and ensure it's prepared for the task.

Wear Athletic Shoes

Sandals are advertised as the perfect summer footwear. The open space lets your feet breathe and soak up the sun. These flat shoes with no shock absorption or support can quickly leave your feet aching. You should really be wearing athletic shoes throughout the summer, especially if you'll be walking longer than a few minutes. Stick with sandals at the beach only and wear tennis shoes everywhere else.

Stay Hydrated

A lack of hydration can do more harm to your body than you may realize. If you're feeling achy or ill, you may need more water in your day. Be sure to drink plenty of water when you're outside in the sun and engaging in physical activities. You lose lots of water through sweat and need to make up for it. Eating hydrating fruits and vegetables can also help.

Keep Sunburn Solutions on Hand

Sunburn is one of the most common reasons for pain in the summertime. You should always keep sunburn solutions on hand so you can handle the stinging sensation of your reddened skin promptly. Aloe vera is the typical option. You can also use oatmeal in a bath to soothe your irritation or try a cold compress.

Get Your Rest

Your body needs time each night to rest and recharge. If you fail to get enough sleep, you're likely to wake up sore and fatigued. Stick with a sleep schedule and make sure you're getting all the Zzz's you need nightly. You should wake feeling well-rested and ready to take on the day.

Summer pain can be stopped when you take some precautions. Stretch, hydrate, wear the right shoes, and do everything you can to keep your body feeling good. It will ensure you can enjoy the summer rather than be laid up at home in discomfort.
