Leave Stress Behind With These Lifestyle Habits
By Genevieve Cunningham
Stress. You've felt it before, you'll feel it again, and chances are pretty good that you're feeling a little stressed right now. It's a crazy world that we live in, and we often get caught up in the chaos. Between family, health, personal time, and work, stress sneaks its way in and wreaks all kinds of havoc. Before we know it, stress has all but taken over our lives. Though we likely won't ever escape stress completely, there are definitely ways to keep it at bay. If you're interested in lowering stress and feeling your best, take a look at these lifestyle habits to start using in your life today.
Get Organized
Chaos causes stress. Clutter causes stress. When we don't have our lives organized -- whether we're talking about our literal belongings or just our schedules -- it can create a lot of stress. If you want to experience less stress on a regular (even daily!) basis, you need to get organized. Start with your home, move to your car and office, and then round it out by organizing your schedule. It might take a while, but getting organized will be so worth it when your stress is less and health is better.
Minimize
You don't have to be a minimalist, but cutting back can have a big impact on your mental health and overall stress load. Too much stuff means more to put away and worry about. Too many things to do means stressing about how to get from one thing to another and still get it all done. Don't do that to yourself! Minimize your life -- both in material items and responsibilities -- and you'll definitely start feeling less stress.
Routines, Routines, Routines
There is so much power in routines. Routines keep our minds focused. They let both body and mind fall into a bit of expectation. And anytime we can eliminate uncertainty in our lives, we also eliminate some stress. Start with a morning routine. Once that's down, go to a bedtime routine. Experiment, do what works for you, and work toward solid routines that build stability and limit worry in your life.
Can we completely wipe stress out of our lives? It's unlikely. Life can be stressful, and that's OK. But we can learn to minimize stress. We can learn to avoid stressful situations and create spaces and routines that make us feel safe and secure. Use these tips to limit the stress in your life and leave the worry behind once and for all.
