Meet The Doctors
Dr. Brent D. Siemens became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2019 when he began serving residents in the Oklahoma City area, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is that we are able to get people out of pain,” he says. “Another great thing about being a chiropractor is that we usually improve the patients’ quality of life.”
Dr. Brent, as his patients call him, is a fourth-degree black belt in judo and fifth-degree in aikido. He and wife Kathy met while he was getting his doctorate at Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. They have been married more than three decades and have two grown sons -- and a German shepherd.
Raised in Midwest City, his best friend’s sister was studying pre-med in an effort to become a chiropractor and was a major influence in his decision to pursue the chiropractic path. “I’ve been practicing for nearly four decades and I’ve seen my share of patients get better even after other professions told them they could not be helped,” he says. “That’s probably the best validation one could have for chiropractic.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Just a few years into his career, 1989, Dr. Brent got the opportunity to treat the rock band Chicago. He eventually treated other bands such as Def Leppard, the Scorpions, singer Robert Plant, and illusionist David Copperfield. “It was an honor to treat each and every one of them,” he says.
If he could bring together any figures from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Brent would include Jigoro Kano and Morihei Ueshiba, the founders of judo and aikido, respectively; Jesus, and neuroscience author Dr. Joe Dispenza.
The martial arts are obviously a big part of Dr. Brent’s life, and some of his most rewarding moments outside the office have come from watching students he trained advance in their knowledge, skill, and ranking. “My instructors would always tell me that ‘you learn as much or more, by teaching, as the one you teach,’” he says. “I found that to be a profound truth.”
Another profound truth was something that his father would often say: “A hundred years from now, we’ll never know the difference,” which led Dr. Brent to dispense his own best advice: “Don’t worry about what others think of you; do your best, and that is enough.”
