Chiropractic Tips for Your Fingers and Feet

By Brandi Goodman

The back is often seen as the chiropractor's specialty. You may see tips quite often regarding how to sit, stand, walk, stretch, exercise, and all sorts of other activities to help your posture stay straight and your back avoid aches. But what about the other areas of your body that can hurt quite often? The fingers and feet are two (or more like 12) body parts that could really benefit from some chiropractic guidance.

Stretch Them Out

Stretching is still important for these areas just as it is for the back or other joints. You should be stretching out your feet and fingers regularly to help keep them limber and avoid pain. Some simple ankle rolls can help a ton. You can also roll your feet over a tennis ball for a good stretch and massage. Make fists and release your fingers wide for some easy hand stretches.

Keep Them Protected

Dangers are everywhere. You need to keep your hands and feet protected if there's a potential for disaster. For example, be sure you're wearing gloves in the cold. The cold weather can cause some inflammation in your joints and make your fingers ache. A pair of gloves can go a long way toward keeping them warm and comfortable. You also need to protect your feet with the right pair of shoes. If you're working in construction, for example, you'll need a sturdy pair of steel-toed boots. A hammer dropping on toes in tennis shoes won't feel too good.

Include Them in Exercise

You'll need to do more than just stretch to keep your feet and fingers strong. They need to be included in your exercise routine as well. Walking is incredibly beneficial for the feet and legs. The consistent movement will help to strengthen them and make them more resistant to pain and injury. You can also buy grip strengtheners to help your hands. Squeezing these tools can improve your grip and keep your fingers flexible and able to handle any work you need them to accomplish.

Follow these chiropractic tips for your fingers and feet to avoid discomfort in these extremities. You won't be able to walk or stand well, nor use your hands if these areas are hurting. That can leave you feeling quite debilitated quickly. Keep your hands and feet strong and pain-free for your well-being. Don't forget to see a chiropractor for some additional assistance with these areas if needed. The Joint can help you with the joints in these areas just as well as they can remove restrictions in your neck or back.
