5 Best Snacks After an Early Morning Workout

By Ashley Chapman

Finishing a workout can feel like an accomplishment. However, what do you eat after? If you are like some, working out before heading to work can be a complicated task. While some may skip breakfast, it is important to fuel your body to help aid in continued weight loss. Whether you have done strength training, cardio or a mixture of both, what you eat will be important to your long-term fitness goals.

Below are five easy snacks you can prep and have ready to go on your way out to work!

Protein Shake

A protein shake is a quick way to get in both your protein, for muscle gain, and your vitamins. It  can be made in less than 2 minutes, and can be a timesaver! With a mixture of almond milk, frozen fruit of your choice, ice, and an optional scoop of your favorite protein powder, you are bound to be set for the morning.

Oatmeal With Fruit

If you are a fan of oatmeal, this meal is not only packed with a variety of nutrients, but it can also help with curbing your appetite for longer durations. Oatmeal is packed with fiber, protein and iron. Adding in various fruit such as bananas or strawberries can help with extra carbohydrates and Vitamin C.

Egg White Scramble

This meal takes some prep, but is packed with important nutrients that are much needed after a workout. It can also help with staying full, longer.

Using egg whites can lower your cholesterol intake while still giving you valuable grams of protein. Add in tomatoes for fiber and carbohydrates, and avocado for healthy servings of fat.

Carrots With Hummus

If you are in a hurry in the morning, and do not have an extra 10 minutes to cook a meal, having a meal that you can grab and eat on the go is essential.

Carrots are a great choice for carbohydrates, which can help with boosting your energy level. They are also low in fat and high in water. Hummus, made from chickpeas, are high in protein, carbs, and fiber. If you are looking to repair your muscles from lifting weights, eating protein after a workout is important.

Greek Yogurt With Granola

When you have finished a strength training workout, it is important to load up on protein. Another snack that is loaded with protein and is low in sugar is plain Greek yogurt. A way that you can add extra flavor is choosing a fruit or granola to sprinkle on top.
