Staying Young With Plenty of Energy

It's funny how, when we are young, all we want to do is become an adult. It's what we dream of, it's what we talk about, and it's what gets us through those dreaded high school years. For some reason, there is something extremely enticing about adulthood, although I am not exactly sure what, but now that I am one, I wish I could talk to the younger generation and tell them the truth. That being an adult is mostly spending your time wondering how you hurt your back, wishing you hadn't made those plans so you can stay home, and feeling completely and totally exhausted every single day.

Increasing Your Energy Levels

Remember your parents telling you to do this and do that because, "Tomorrow is a busy day and you will need all of your energy"? Well, since we all got what we wished for, and officially are adults now, it's up to us to take care of our bodies on our own. And since our parents didn't feed us energy drinks to make it through the day, we are going to avoid them as well. Here are some suggestions on how to restore your energy naturally.

  • Daily exercise - Staying physically active and exercising on a daily basis is a great way to increase your energy, so get moving! You don't even need to invest a lot of time with a demanding fitness routine. All you need is 30 minutes a day.
  • Stay hydrated - Dehydration can leave you feeling tired and drained of energy, so make sure you are drinking the recommended amount of water every day. To help with that, start your morning with a glass of water and carry a bottle with you throughout the day.
  • Eat well - Eating well does not mean eating whatever you want. It means keeping your diet filled with lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, heart-healthy fats, and nuts. It also means to avoid processed foods, refined sugars, and too many carbohydrates.
  • Get your sleep - Moms know best! We need our sleep, not only for our overall health and wellness but also to help us maintain those very important energy levels throughout the day. So be sure to prioritize your rest and get the quality sleep your body deserves!
  • Head outdoors - If you want a natural pick-me-up and some warmth on your face, head outdoors for a quick energy boost. Just a few minutes of sunshine is all you need, but if you can squeeze in some more, go ahead and do so! It will do you some good!
