Finding the Time to Improve Your Health

By Donna Stark

Got a few extra minutes to spare? I bet you do, if you look hard enough. But when you find those minutes, don't waste them by scrolling through social media. Use them to your benefit and  improve your overall health and wellness instead. Sure, good health is a lifelong commitment, but if done right, achieving it doesn't require a lot of time. Take a look to see what I mean.

One Minute in the Morning

Start your day off right with a positive mindset and a sense of accomplishment by making your bed. Making your bed every morning helps to set the tone for the day and can have a positive effect on your mental health. It can also improve the quality of sleep you get each night too since your bed will be in order when it is time to fall asleep.

Five Minutes Here and There

Drinking water and staying hydrated is essential to good health and doesn't require any time at all. Always keep a water bottle near you and make sure you take plenty of breaks to fill it up. Just be sure to figure out the amount your body requires first! This will depend on your fitness levels, health conditions, and environment.

Thirty Minutes During the Day

Here's a fun fact ... you don't need hours and hours each day to get the benefits that come from exercise. With just 30 minutes a day, you can make a huge difference in how you look and feel! And the best part is that those 30 minutes don't need to be spent at the same time! Just keep your body moving whenever you can fit them in!

Sixty Minutes After Work

You may not even need all 60 minutes for this, but with prepping, cooking, and then eating, it is easy for the minutes to add up! Improve your health by improving your daily diet. Make a commitment to cook more of your meals at home. By doing so, you can control the ingredient list, the number of calories you consume, and the amount of fat, sodium, and sugar in your diet. And try to incorporate as many nutrient-dense foods into your meals as you can. You can't go wrong by sticking with fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, heart-healthy fats, and whole grains.

The Minutes Are There

Finding the time to improve your overall health and wellness isn't as hard as you imagine. The minutes are there. You just need to look for them!
