Healthy Skin Today!

It's easy to remember the rule about applying sunscreen when you live in one of the sunniest areas of the country and when there never seems to be an escape from the sun's rays, but it's also just as easy to forget that rule when you live in a climate that actually experiences cloudy days and has changes in its seasons. With the exception of those day trips to the pool, beach, or golf course, many people in those types of climates don't even think about applying sunscreen when they head out the door and that can often lead to serious issues down the road.
Sunscreen for Everyday Use
No matter where you live or how inconvenient you may think the act of applying it is, sunscreen should definitely become a part of your daily routine. And by daily, I mean every day, of every week, of every month throughout the entire year. If you have time to put on makeup, deodorant, and perfume or cologne, you have time to apply some sunscreen. Here's why it is so important.
- Reduces the risk of skin cancer - Do you think your risk of skin cancer decreases when the temperatures drop? Maybe, if those temperatures force you to head indoors, but the actual temperature has little bearing on the level of risk. What matters is how much exposure to the sun you are getting. So even if the day is chilly, you still need to apply sunscreen.
- Clouds are not good filters - Another mistake that many people make is thinking that cloud cover will protect them from the sun's harmful rays. Here is something to keep in mind ... even if the day is dreary, UV rays can still find their way to you and believe it or not, some clouds can reflect those rays which will increase your chance of getting sunburned.
- Sun damage doesn't discriminate - Even if you have that perfect skin tone that is the envy of everyone around you, that doesn't mean you still can't sustain sun damage over the course of your lifetime. Sun damage doesn't discriminate and just because you may be one of the lucky ones that rarely burns, you could be setting yourself up for some serious health issues down the road by refusing to wear sunscreen today.
Healthier Skin Today
There really is no excuse to not add this simple step into your daily routine because the sunscreens of today are so much better than the sunscreens of the past. They are light, convenient, and readily available, so make a wise choice and apply some every morning from here on out ... no matter how sunny or cloudy the day looks to be!
