Fun Ways to Lose a Few Pounds
By Genevieve Cunningham
Most people in today’s world could stand to lose a few pounds. Between our busy lifestyles, our increasing use of technology, and our poor diets, we tend to gain a little around the middle. But unless you just really love to work out, losing weight can be hard. If you’re ready to jump on the weight-loss bandwagon, but you need a fun or creative way to do it, take a look at these tips.
You probably don’t even realize just how little we walk. If you need to increase activity, just start with this. If you live in the city, you can probably walk to quite a few locations from your home or work office. Your favorite eatery is five blocks away? Walk! Feel like going out? Drive your car downtown, park it, and walk to every location after that. Walking can burn calories, keep you flexible, and improve your overall health in no time.
OK, so it might not really be your thing but there’s no denying that this funny little app has people on the move. Getting involved with a game such as Pokemon Go can really encourage you to move your body. And if you have kids, you may be able to lose weight while also doing something that they really enjoy. If you’re not really sure what Pokemon is or how to get involved, don’t stress. You don’t have to be a Pokemon expert to play. Just follow the directions, walk to the locations, catch your Pokemon, and keep going. No fuss, no hassle. Just a grown-up playing a game … but also losing weight at the same time.
Get the Fitbit
There’s a bit of controversy surrounding whether this really works, but many people swear by it. A Fitbit helps you track how many steps you’re taking in a day. To really make it fun and challenging, get a group of people and make it a game. Whoever gets the most steps in one day gets a treat or doesn’t have to pay for dinner. Keeping it fun and lighthearted is truly the way to burn calories in a way that lasts a lifetime.
Losing weight doesn’t have to be stressful or boring. It can be a ton of fun! You just have to be willing to get creative. With a good attitude, an open mind, and a little perseverance, you can lose the weight and get more fit in no time.
