Why You Need Regular Chiropractic Care
By Krista Elliott
We're a quick-fix society, aren't we? If we have a problem, we want it repaired right away, and permanently. And that desire makes sense. We want things to work well, and we don't want to have to put in more work than necessary to keep them working well.
The same thing goes for chiropractic care. Some people think, "Okay, my back hurts, so I'll try chiropractic care one time and if it doesn't work, I'll try something else."
Again, it makes sense to want the quick fix, but here's why -- when it comes to your health -- slow and steady wins the race.
Rome Wasn't Built in a Day - Even if your back pain was caused by a sudden slip or fall, that may only be the surface reason. Did you fall because your balance is compromised by misaligned joints? Did your pain come about in a certain area because there are untreated subluxations? Very rarely are back problems created virtually overnight. And because there may be years (even decades) of issues to unearth, fixing them isn't going to happen overnight either.
OK, Now Never Move Again - The thing with your back and joints, is that ... well, you use them. You don't clean your house thinking, "OK, now I never have to do this again." Instead, we do the work, realizing that we live in that house and use that house and that it IS going to need cleaning again before too long (or in the case of my house, three seconds later). The same goes for most any physical therapy, like chiropractic care. A misalignment may be corrected, but you're still going to keep moving your body, often in ways that are not biomechanically perfect. Especially if those ways are due to habits you've developed over your lifetime (chronic slouchers, I'm looking at you).
So, Why Bother?
Well, that's the thing. You could say, "Why bother cleaning if the house will get dirty again?" Or you could say, "Why get therapy if it's not going to solve all my problems and I'll just need to keep going back?" Or, "Why visit a chiropractor if I just have to keep going?"
Some things can be fixed permanently. But, because we are growing, moving, changing creatures, most of the time all we can do is maintenance. We maintain our homes, our cars, and our lawns. But sometimes we forget that we have to maintain what's on our insides in order to stay as healthy and pain-free as possible.
Fortunately, at The Joint Chiropractic, we make it as easy and convenient as possible to keep up with your routine maintenance. With no appointments needed, you can come by whenever it's convenient for you. And our chiropractic experts will perform the gentle and precise adjustments needed to get your spine and joints back to where they should be, and maintain them that way, visit after visit.
