Chiropractors Suggest a Spine-Related Resolution
By Brandi Goodman
Your spine holds you up. Without it, you couldn't stand. You couldn't even sit upright or hold yourself upward in the slightest. Yet, so few people do what they need to care for their spinal health and keep their backs strong. Chiropractors suggest making a spine-related resolution for the year to better your back and keep yourself in good standing.
I Will Sleep With My Spine in Mind
Do you sleep on your stomach? Do you use an outdated mattress? Perhaps your pillows are flat and uncomfortable. All of these are much more than just a discomfort to your daily life. They inhibit your spine's natural curve and cause serious back pain and problems. In the new year, vow to sleep with your spine in mind. Update that mattress. Get new pillows. Get accustomed to sleeping in a better position. You should wake without aches when doing so.
I Will Walk With Purpose
Walking is a great activity for the spine. You can strengthen your legs and your back from the exercise. You just need to be sure you're walking with purpose and standing upright with your head held high as you move. Walking slowly with your neck tilted downward at your phone does no good for your spine. Attempting 30 minutes of walking per day can be a huge help.
I Will Create an Ergonomic Workspace
Work is the problem for many people. If you have to sit at a desk all day, it can really hurt your back when you don't have the proper equipment. Creating an ergonomic workspace can help your spine considerably. Make sure your chair is adjustable so you can set it at the right height. You could also consider a standing desk so you don't have to sit all day. Make sure to place your computer at the appropriate height and distance as well. You should be able to see the monitor without straining your neck to do so.
I Will Receive Regular Chiropractic Care
The chiropractor does far more than ease some basic back pain. See a chiropractor regularly and you could experience significant advantages for your spinal health. Improving your range of motion, reducing discomfort, correcting subluxations or joint restrictions, and enhancing the mind-body connection are all benefits that your back can prosper from.
Make the new year all about your spine. Your spinal health is important to your overall well-being, after all. Let your back become weak, exhibit poor posture, and fail to care for your spine and you will quickly realize just how worse off you are for it. Your spine-related resolution could save you.
