Chiropractic Tip: Make Nutrition a Focus of Your Wellness
The American Chiropractic Association advises us there is no better way to rejuvenate health than by eating more nutritiously. In fact, even a few simple changes in diet and lifestyle can have a positive impact on health-and can also prevent a variety of health problems in the future.
The traditional coffee and doughnuts for breakfast; a hamburger for lunch-or no lunch; candy, cookies, and a soft drink for a snack; followed by a huge dinner with more protein than a person needs-are unhealthy dietary choices.
ACA Lifestyle Changes
Exercise 20 to 30 minutes three or four days a week.
Eat out less to avoid the wrong fats and sugars.
Brown-bag your lunch to control your fat and sugar content.
Limit alcohol and quit smoking. Drinking alcohol excessively and/or smoking hinder your body's ability to absorb nutrients from your food.
Eat more raw foods. With the exception of canned tomatoes, which help prevent prostate cancer, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables have more natural vitamins and minerals.
Select organically grown foods because they have lower amounts of toxic elements, such as pesticides and heavy metals.
Consume 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day. Whole-grain breads and cereals, beans, nuts, and some fruits and vegetables are good sources of fiber. High-fiber diets can help prevent digestive disorders, heart disease, and colon cancer.
Drink eight to ten 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, and alcohol are dehydrators. Don't substitute them for water.
Visiting the Chiropractor
Chiropractors see everyone from small children to seniors. They believe wellness and routine chiropractic care should be as basic to our lives as healthy diets and daily exercise. They offer the purest form of chiropractic care, providing full spinal adjustments using the diversified technique to check for subluxations, which are misalignments of the spine.Subluxations are misalignments of one or more vertebrae in the spine and/or joints. When the misalignment is corrected it may have far reaching effects on back, neck and sciatica pain. It may also help with allergies, TMJ, arthritis, headaches and migraines. As a wellness clinic the chiropractic focus is on daily stresses, aches and pain without use of medications or surgery.
I have known many friends and relatives who have found this simple, direct chiropractic treatment to be the best way to maintain wellness. If this direct focus on chiropractic wellness sounds just as great to you as it does to majority of the people in the U.S., make an appointment and find out more.
