Spring Stress and How to Avoid It

By Brandi Goodman

The spring season is a time of happiness for many people. It isn't without its downsides, though. Spring stress is a very real dilemma that people face. Your yard needs to be managed. Your home needs to be cleaned. Extra tasks on your to-do list can make it hard to manage your time. With some tips in mind, you can learn how to best avoid the stress of the season and get through your tasks with ease.

Take It One Task at a Time

You don't have to get your entire home clean in one day. Spring cleaning can take weeks if you need. Take it one task at a time and just focus on that specific assignment you set for yourself. Don't let the rest of the blank boxes on your checklist overwhelm you.

Enjoy a Spring Vacation

Spring break is held in schools for a reason. It can be hard to focus on school or work when the sun is shining and the weather is warm. Taking a break in the springtime helps you to get away for a while and come back feeling refreshed and ready to continue with your tasks. If you're able to, it's recommended to enjoy a spring vacation.

This vacation doesn't have to be outside of your home if you can't afford it. Try a spring staycation instead so you can still feel like you're getting away from daily life and enjoying your time instead. Use that extra set of blankets on your bed. Camp out in a tent if you want. Order in food. Walk to a nearby restaurant or park like you might if you were away. Just find ways to unwind and enjoy your time.

Call In the Cavalry

You can't always complete all your tasks alone. If you have a lot to do and you just know you won't have the time to finish it all, then call in the cavalry for help. Ask any friends or family if they're able to come help out for an hour or two. They may be able to help get some boxes and bags out of your home from what you've been cleaning. They may assist you with working in the yard. Offer up some pizza and drinks and you'll usually have a few takers. If there's no one that can help, then hiring someone for the job may be a wise choice.

Spring stress can be kept to a minimum if you keep these tips in mind. If you do find yourself feeling stressed out and overwhelmed, simply walk away for a bit. Take some time to yourself to unwind and relax. You can get back to your to-do list when your mind is clear and you're ready to get things accomplished.
