Chiropractic Care May Drastically Improve Eye Health
The more I learn about the many health benefits that chiropractic care and adjustments can bring, the more I am continually amazed by the way that the spinal column has such an incredible and indelible impact on the entire rest of the body and its many functions.
I like to think that I have done my fair share of research on how chiropractic positively affects the body, yet I find that I am still learning about new benefits every once in a while. My most recent revelation came from reading a very fascinating and insightful post by For A Healthy Future, which states that their is a definite link between eye health, vision problems, and the spinal column.
As someone who has been needing glasses and contacts for the majority of their life, I was definitely intrigued to hear this, and so I continued to read and re-read the post. As it turns out, the same way that a misalignment, also known as a subluxation, in the spinal column can effect the health of the back, so too can a misalignment in the neck create a negative impact on the way one or both of a person's eyes work.
Scientists and doctors alike believe that when the nerves of the neck are cut off or impeded in some way, this shuts off the right amount of blood circulation that is needed to promote the optimal function of the eyes. In other words, when the upper area of the spinal column is misaligned or experiencing a blockage or inflammation, the eyes become directly impacted in a negative way. This can result in many different types of symptoms, from watery eyes to dry eyes to double vision to, in a worst case scenario, even a severe reduction in the quality of a person's eyesight.
Fortunately, normal amounts of blood flow and circulation can be quickly and easily restored with a simple treatment of regular chiropractic care. Even just one chiropractic adjustment of the neck and upper cervical area has been shown to vastly improve a patient's previous eye condition or conditions. Still, it is generally agreed upon that the best course of action is to continue receiving chiropractic care on a regular basis, so as to keep the blood flow and circulation throughout the body strong and effective. Regular chiropractic adjustments can also work to prevent any future health issues or incidents from occuring.
