4 Reasons Your Back is Aching

I don’t think I know a single adult that doesn’t complain about back pain from time to time. Pain and aching in the back is pretty common. Not only are we more likely to experience back pain as we age, but our lifestyles are generally no help either. Even though back pain is pretty common, it is still something that most of us would rather do without.

When there is a specific and known cause for our back pain, like an accident or injury, it is a little easier to pinpoint the right kind of treatment to feel better. Other times, getting rid of back pain isn’t quite as easy. To understand your own back pain more clearly and potentially get a little help, check out these 4 reasons that your back may be aching.

You Sit All Day

We are in a sitting world. We sit in the car. We sit at work. We sit in front of the tv or laptop. We sit, sit, sit. Our backs were not made for this lack of inactivity. Our backs and our bodies in general were meant to move. Without movement, our backs get stiff, full of tension, and suffer from nagging pain. In order to help with this, it is important to get your body up and moving. Plan for exercise, make moments to stand or walk throughout the day, and just get your lifestyle a bit more active for a healthier back.

You Overeat

We all know that overeating is bad for our health, but it can specifically be bad for the health of our backs. When we eat too much or eat the wrong foods, we deprive our bodies of the nutrients needed to stay healthy. It can also lead to excess weight which places undue pressure on the spine causing pain. In order to negate this sort of pain, stick to a healthy and well balanced diet and stay far away from junk food and high calorie sweets.

You Sleep Incorrectly

Sleeping in a strange position makes a big difference in the overall feeling of your body. You can wake up with cricks in the neck, a stiff back, tough to move joints, and various other pains. To sleep better, make sure that your mattress and pillow are comfortable and supportive. It can also help to lie on your side instead of your back, as this helps reduce pressure from the spine and alleviate some of those morning time aches and pains.

You are Aging

Unfortunately, aging brings its own set of aches and pains. As our bodies get older, they can’t carry as much weight or take as much stress. There’s not much that can be done about aging, but there are some things you can do to make it easier. Stretching, exercising regularly, and remaining active are great ways to make the aging process easier.

Get Chiropractic Care for Relief

Another great way to help reduce pain in the back is by getting regular chiropractic care. A chiropractor may be able to help align the vertebrae of the spine and keep them that way. With a properly aligned spine, aches and pains are diminished and flexibility often regained. When the spine remains healthy, it can help negate some of the other back pain caused by everyday life and make you feel healthier and more refreshed in general.

To get chiropractic care, get to The Joint...the Chiropractic Place. Sometimes, it seems like getting care from a doctor is more trouble than it’s worth. This is definitely not the case at The Joint. Walk in appointments and affordable pricing mean getting care is easier than ever. A chiropractor at The Joint may be able to align your spine and help ease your back pain now and long into the future.
