A Varied Workout Attire Adds to Success
By Tom Herrin
For the longest time, most people assumed that all they needed in the way of workout clothes was a basic set of shorts and shirt. There were certain times when sweats may be needed to complete the set. Once they had all of that, they pretty much felt like they had it all. As people have become better educated in the science of exercise, they have learned that there are plenty of options available to help create a better workout environment, thus ensuring greater success. Today’s workout is aimed at a more complete program.
The Right Fit for the Activity is Important
No longer is it enough to simply throw on some workout clothes and start right in. People try to look at the activity and decide what type of clothes will best serve their needs. For joggers, they need clothes that are loose enough to move but close-fitting enough that they don’t get in the way of their legs as the jog. It can be frustrating to be jogging while oversized pants are flapping and disrupting their rhythm. On the other hand, activities such as yoga do much better with clothes that are a closer fit overall.
Warm Temperatures Require Breathability
When people participate in warm weather, it is best to have materials that wick away moisture. This allows better comfort and the ability to stay cooler as the fabric dries more easily. This helps to avoid the old types of fabric that became saturated with perspiration and became heavy and baggy. Lightweight fabric can allow greater movement and keep moisture away from the skin, causing the old problems of the past. These fabrics are available at an affordable price almost everywhere that sells athletic type clothes.
Layers Work for the Cold
When people work out in colder temperatures, they can still start out with the same lightweight clothes. Adding layers that insulate can do a good job of properly warming the body. As they get warmer, people can simply begin to remove layers a little at a time. They can still achieve their goals by managing their apparel correctly. Starting out the workout a little on the cool side will usually help to allow for just the right amount of warming. It will take experimenting, but as people make a few mental notes, they can achieve the kind of workout they desire. You won’t have to have a special closet full of clothes, but a few different things can add some diversity and help to be prepared for success.
