4 Tips For Getting Active
Inactivity is literally killing a lot of people today. Even being obese is not as bad as being inactive if that individual is living an active lifestyle. Going from inactive to active can take a little time to make the adjustment, but it will certainly pay off in many ways. Here are some steps that will help you to get more active.
Choose an Activity
There are many activities that can be engaged in to help you get started toward an active lifestyle. One thing that will help you will be to choose some activity that you can enjoy. This may include walking, biking, taking an aerobics class, swimming, a sports program, or just starting an exercise or weightlifting program at home.
Enlist a Friend
If you find that you really do not particularly like to exercise, then you certainly want to get a friend to exercise with you. It is so much easier and more likely that you will keep going if you have a friend go with you, or if you enroll in some kind of class or program where others can provide some encouragement.
Start Off Easy
For some who realize that exercise is really needed, there may be a temptation to dive right in and start off too strong. When you do this, you are apt to be quite sore for a few days. The aches may be strong enough to cause you to quit. Avoid this problem by starting off slowly and building up. You might, for instance, start off exercising two days a week, and then increase until you get at least 30 minutes a day for five days each week.
Keep Track of Your Progress
Set some goals when you start your new exercise program, and write them down. Then keep track of your weekly progress. Slowly increase the repetitions or distance until you reach your goals. Then you may want to set them higher, but at least strive to maintain your new exercise program.
