Why You May Not Be Losing Weight by Eating ""Clean""
Clean eating has been found to improve health conditions, and even help you lose weight. Clean eating includes eating more fruit, vegetables, and clean meats while avoiding sugars, processed foods, and other unhealthy foods. Even though eating this way will greatly improve your health, many individuals are baffled because they are not seeing the scale move in the right direction.
If you are dedicated to healthy eating, but can’t seem to lose the weight that you need to help you health, it may be due to one of these common reasons.
Too Much Fat
Healthy fats are a must for good health and for balancing your hormones. In fact, if you do not have enough healthy fat can even make you fat. While healthy fats are a must-have for healthy living, it can be easy to take it too far. So while you can enjoy avocados and olive oil, try not to go overboard if you want to lose weight. Just remember that healthy fats are good for you, but they are not a free food like spinach is.
Too Much Fruit
There are many health benefits to be had through fruits. They are delicious and contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. However, many people will eat four or five servings of fruits a day while ignoring vegetables. Keep fruit servings to one or two a day, while still enjoying a lot of vegetables. If you are overweight, you could be insulin-resistant, which means you have a harder time losing weight when your blood sugars are off balance. With that in mind, choose fruits that are lower in sugar, such as berries and green apples over fruits that are higher in sugar, like watermelon and bananas.
Starchy Carbs
You deserve a pat on the back for switching to whole grains, brown rice and quinoa, and even sweet potatoes. However, if you struggle losing weight, it could be due to the high amount of carbs you are eating. You don’t have to rid carb completely from your diet, but you do need to find a carb range that works best for your body. Many people find that they do better with carbs if they only eat them at night, and other find that they burn carbs better after a workout.
If you are not losing weight from clean eating, don’t stop. You are still benefiting your body with the best choices of foods. You just may need to be more mindful of how much you consume.
