Tips for Fighting the Effects of Aging
Aging is not fun. There are very few people, if any, that actually like the process. Stiff joints, age spots, wrinkles...none of these are very appealing. We are always on the lookout for the fountain of youth. How can we stay as young and healthy as possible? While there still isn’t a fountain of youth, there are some measures you can take to keep your body as youthful as possible. To fight off the side effects of aging and keep yourself feeling young, check out these tips and tricks for a youthful life.
Moisturize
When your skin gets dry, it can become cracked and much less pliable. Over long periods of time, this can mean wrinkles. People that are older and still have youthful skin claim a few secrets, one of which is to stay moist! Put on a good moisturizer in the morning, midday, and before you go to bed. It can also be beneficial to put it on periodically throughout the day as you feel the need. Keeping your skin moist can prevent those wrinkles from developing. While you are still likely to get them eventually, staying moisturized can keep them at bay for longer.
Sunscreen
When I was young, sunscreen was something you only put on before a long day in the sun. In recent years, however, we have come to understand just how important it is for long term health. Wearing sunscreen everyday can help prevent age spots, wrinkles, and even more serious conditions like cancer. When you put on sunscreen, put it on before makeup so that it can give you the most protection. Don’t forget your neck and the backs of your hands as well. These are the areas that see the most sun on a daily basis, and so need special attention when it comes to sunscreen.
Supplement
Another area that sees a bit of trouble as we age is our joints. If you want to try and keep your joints loose and limber, there are a few different approaches that you can take. For starters, make sure that you stay active. Inactivity is one of the most sure fire ways to lose your limberness. It can also be helpful to drink plenty of water and take supplements like Omega 3 Fatty Acids or Fish Oil. Both of these can benefit your joints over time and protect them for longer.
Getting older happens if you are lucky. While it can seem difficult to deal with, getting older is a privilege! Of course, we all want to look as good as we can for as long as we can. Use these tips to age with grace and to keep your body and mental health as good as possible for years to come.
