3 Areas of Your Life That Affect Your Mental Health

By Rachel Shouse

Sometimes you can't force yourself to feel happy. While all aspects of your everyday life have an impact on your mental health, there are a handful that have a greater impact than others. Your loved ones, your work, and your money all have a big impact on your daily life.

How Your Loved Ones Affect Your Mental Health

Loved ones can be both a blessing and a curse. Everyone wishes for a happy, healthy family. If you were raised by a family that loved you and did their best, consider yourself blessed. Some kids and young adults live in homes that can feel like literal battlegrounds.

There are an unlimited number of reasons why you may not get along with someone you love. Regardless of what caused the problem between you and them, there are ways to either fix it or heal from it and move on. Fixing it usually takes a lot of time, patience, and listening. If the relationship is past the point of no return, the best thing to do is start accepting what's happened and heal.

Work and Mental Health

While you most likely spend most of your time at home, the second place you spend the most time is likely your job. Most people can tolerate the work that they do while others may dread the very thought of walking out their door.

There aren't unlimited jobs available and plenty of times individuals accept jobs because they need the money, not because they enjoy it. If finding a new job is doable for you, please try. It's really not that hard to hop online and do a search in your local area for any and all jobs. It'd probably be best to think about what you'd like to do before you go researching.

The Impact Money Has on Your Daily Life

Money can't buy happiness, but it sure can reduce a lot of stress for many people. Financial hardship isn't something everyone goes through, but most do or will. Sometimes there's nothing you can do or could've done to stop it. Other times it can be poor self control and frivolous spending.

A quick way but complicated way of fixing this is by creating a zero-based budget. Regardless of whether you have a current budget or not, this is a method worth trying. A zero-based budget basically means that your income minus your expenses would equal zero.

These areas really need to be a priority to most individuals. Remember to take care of yourself too though. Your mental health affects your family. In order to take care of them you need to take care of yourself the best you can.
