3 Ways Your Children Are Causing Your Weight Gain (& How to Stop It)

Children are a wonderful addition to any family. Yes, they bring a lot of changes to your life, but most parents would agree that these changes are for the better. However, most parents can also agree that the changes kids bring to our bodies are not always the most welcomed.

Pregnancy is not the only time bodies change when it comes to children. Instead, children can cause parents to pack on the pounds due to poor lifestyle habits, stress, and lack of sleep. You got to face the reality that your kid is making you fat, and here is what you can do about it.

Stop Eating Whatever They Are Eating

It would be nice to be a kid again an not have to worry about what goes in your mouth. Most kids can eat anything they desire without worrying about a bad case of heartburn or packing on the pounds. However, this doesn’t mean you should follow suit. Don’t finish your kids plate and don’t rely on their snacks for comfort food. Better yet, why not transform your child’s diet to any even healthier one, centered on whole foods, to create healthy habits for both of you.

Deal With the Stress

It is no secret that kids cause stress. Stress can then lead to overeating and eating poor quality food items. While having a stress-free kid may be impossible, it is possible to learn how to handle your stress differently. First off, discover what the root of the stress is. Perhaps it is a simple issue of you and your child being more prepared the night before so you aren’t rushing and fighting in the morning. Other times, stress is unavoidable, but you still need to learn how to handle it better. Instead of running to the fridge, why not lie down for a few minutes or take a hot shower, allowing yourself to breathe deeply for a few minutes.

Figure Out How to Sleep More

Lack of sleep can cause a lot of health problems, including weight gain and irritability. However, getting enough sleep with a kid that is full of energy seems like an insurmountable challenge. Your whole family would be healthier and happier if you take the time to establish healthy sleep habits, so make this a priority. It may mean cutting out television after dinner or going to bed the same time your kid does. Find the solution that works best for your family.

We love our kids, but we don’t want them ruining our health. Our kids need us to be in optimal health so that we can essentially be better parents.
