How to Exercise When You Have No Time
Today’s world is a busy, busy place. Between work, family time, friends, and community obligations, our health often takes a seat on the backburner. Most of the time, that’s not actually what we intend to happen. We want to do it all and have plenty of time left over, but that’s just not always the case.
So how do we take care of our health without sacrificing any other aspects of our life? Condense and incorporate more than one activity at the same time. Check out these ingenious ways to have your cake and eat it too, when it comes to a busy life and exercise.
During Working Hours
While you are at work, you can actually sneak in some exercise. For starters, stick to extremely simple tasks like parking at the back of the parking lot, making a lap around the office at work, and doing five squats every time you take a restroom break. Then sneak in a few more ways like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or practicing yoga on your lunch hour. With a little preparation, you can make health a priority without sacrificing any work time.
During Family Time
A great way make health a priority without sacrificing your precious family time is to take them with you! Go for family walks at the park or around the block. Take a family bike ride at the local track. Buy a soccer ball, basketball, or similar object and go outside for some family recreation. With some planning, you can not only get your body in shape, but you can make quality memories with your kids and teach them healthy habits to last a lifetime.
In Your (Very Little) Alone Time
I know that if you are a working parent time, alone time is something that you don’t get much of. When you do get a little, take advantage of it. Picking up a practice like yoga or Pilates can help you relax and get you in great health. A simple stretching routine, a brisk walk, taking the dog for a walk, or a lone jog can help you manage the stresses of the day, get you in peak physical condition, and still help you enjoy your time alone.
Prioritizing health can be difficult, but it is not impossible. Use the time you already have, make some plans, and get the best of both worlds. You don’t have to skimp on your job or your kids in order to build a great body and good health. It just takes some preparation, a little hard work, and the dedication to stick with a new healthy lifestyle.
