Why More Oil May Be the Answer to Your Skin Problems
When it comes to skin, we all want to be clear and beautiful. Unfortunately, this is a lot easier said than done. Beginning at about puberty, we start to see areas of trouble on the skin. It often starts with acne. Once we (if we ever) master acne, then we have to worry about age spots, creases, and wrinkles. Our troubles with skin are never ending. Fortunately, there are some healthy ways to keep your skin young and beautiful.
One slightly controversial way that many people are finding beneficial is through the use of healthy oils. While it may seem backwards, there are some advantages to using more oil on the skin. Take a look at these great reasons that more oil might actually equal the skin of your dreams.
More Oil Equals Less Oil
Quite the contradiction, eh? It might sound strange, but the more healthy oils you introduce to your skin, the less your skin produces to keep your skin soft and pliable. When we use harsh chemicals on our skin to dry it out thinking that it will help reduce blemishes, we are actually stripping it of the natural oils that our bodies produce in order to protect the skin. In response, our skin kicks into overdrive, and it actually begins to produce too much oil. Then, we see the massive oil production, and we wipe it away with harsh chemicals. And...the cycle continues. When we use healthy oils like coconut, emu, and sea buckthorn on our face, we keep our skin healthy without drying it out. In return, our skin stops producing so much extra oil and after a while. it all balances out.
Oil Fights Wrinkles
The great thing about oil is that it keeps the skin extremely moisturized. The key to fighting wrinkles is keeping the skin moist, soft, and pliable. The more pliable your skin, the less likely you are to develop deep creases and wrinkles. When you find a healthy oil that you really like, use it gently as a moisturizer in order to fight off wrinkles and keep the skin young and fresh.
Oil Evens Skin Tone
Another great benefit of oil is that it helps to fight age spots and uneven skin tone. This will certainly take some time, but with consistent use, the skin tone often evens out with healthy oils. Areas that are unhealthy may show it through discolored skin. By applying oil, rehydrating the skin, and making it as healthy as possible, it promotes new cell turnover and healthier skin without the spots and blemishes.
When possible, give healthy oils a go with your skin. Even if you feel a bit of trepidation in the beginning, you may soon find some very healthy and very encouraging benefits. Whether it’s coconut, emu, olive, or another natural oil, find one you love, and give it the chance to make your skin glow.
