Treating Your Spouse to a Healthy Home-Cooked Meal

When date night comes around, many people believe they have to go out for the evening. Couples often dine at fancy restaurants ordering whatever they please from the menu. While this is fine to do on occasion, the better option is to stay inside and enjoy a healthy home-cooked meal together. Whoever doesn’t usually do the cooking should treat their spouse to a nice meal at home once in a while for a nice surprise.
Include Plenty of Veggies
Steak and potatoes shouldn’t be the go-to option for a date night in. Instead, be sure the meal includes plenty of veggies that offer necessary nutrients and vitamins. Some grilled chicken with a tomato cucumber salad would make a great option. Having any salad on the plate for that matter would be ideal, as long as it includes more than just lettuce.
Choose Fruit-Infused Water
Not many people enjoy the taste of plain water even though it’s the beverage everyone should be drinking daily. To make the taste more appealing, fruit can get infused into it for a better flavor. Berries are great choices, as are apples and cinnamon. Lemon, lime, and other common flavors can get placed inside a pitcher of water and left in the fridge to marinate for a few hours for a great taste come dinnertime.
Try Fruit for Dessert
While chocolate doesn’t exactly spell nutrition, dark chocolate does have some benefits thanks to the antioxidants it includes. Adding some melted dark chocolate to fruit is a great way to get in a healthy dessert on date night while still getting to indulge in something delicious. Dip strawberries in dark chocolate and feed them to one another for a romantic end to the evening.
Cook the Meal Together
A meal doesn’t have to be made by one person. Instead of a typical date, make a date out of cooking a healthy meal together. Spend quality time together choosing nutritional ingredients and creating a dish that both of you can enjoy once it’s ready. It’s a great way to flirt and spend time without having to go anywhere.
Healthy meals aren’t as easy to come by at restaurants. Most contain high amounts of butter and salt, making them highly unhealthy. A home-cooked meal at home often proves far more healthy as long as the cook does the job to make it so. Treating a spouse to a healthy home-cooked meal is a great way to show they’re thought about and loved. Do it more often for a happy marriage.
