Get Plenty of Exercise With Challenging Activities
By Tom Herrin
You don't have to go through a mundane workout to get exercise you may need in order to be in better shape. There are all kinds of activities that can meet your needs. Even though we may often feel that there is a prescription to follow to achieve this, we really have lots of possibilities available to us. If you are willing to accept some opportunities to do some activities that cause you to push yourself to greater levels of activity, you can find some things that get you in much better condition. You may find some of them to be a lot of fun and have you setting some good goals.
Are You a Skater?
Some of us did quite well on a pair of skates when we were younger. I wasn't the greatest as the skates often seemed to be heavy and awkward to use. The skates of today are much more streamlined and lightweight. Rollerblades are a little different but are much more versatile. You can use them almost anywhere. They are very durable as well. You will find that they can be good exercise and, if you enjoy it, you may find yourself looking for more opportunities to skate.
Hiking Can Be a Good Pastime
Many people have done some hiking as a kid. Even if we have done so on camping trips, there are a lot more opportunities to hike and get some good quality exercise. Hiking can build up endurance as well as leg muscles. There are hiking trails all around at many parks and natural areas. I have always enjoyed hiking and found it to be something I have looked forward to. There is not that much you need but good shoes. You just want to be sure you can have plenty of water and avoid going too far from help until you get the hang of what you are in need of.
Kayaking Is Popular
Many people enjoy kayaking. It is one of those things that can get in your blood. You will get some pretty good exercise. You will have to be able to paddle as well as roll the kayak. You also may find yourself looking for new places to try putting it into the water. I know some people who are hooked on kayaking and spend a lot of their extra time doing it.
