6 Ways to Beat the Sunday Blues

When did Sunday become the new Monday?

I feel like I find myself dreading Sundays, now. Perhaps it’s because, in the back of my mind, I know that Sunday is just the precursor to Monday. Either way, it’s ridiculous, because Sunday is still the weekend. And we should be enjoying our weekends, not cursing them. So, with that in mind, here are six ways to ensure that your Sundays, from here on out, are relaxing and enjoyable:

#1: Plan something fun for the week.

If you have something planned for, say, Wednesday of the following week, it won’t seem as if Monday is just looming over your last precious weekend hours. Plan to get together with a friend for lunch or for happy hour, or plan a spontaneous week night date with your significant other.

#2: Don’t spend your Sundays on the internet.

Believe me, in most cases, your work emails can wait until Monday for you to give them your undivided attention. Allow yourself a quick check once during the day, and then other than that, power down and allow yourself to really relax for the day.

#3: Take a mini-vacation.

Plan a mini-getaway for your next Sunday afternoon. Now that it’s almost spring, it’s the perfect time to try your hand at berry picking. Find out where the closest pick-your-own berry farm is, hop in the car, and make a day out of it. Doing something fun and out of the ordinary on Sunday can help you to feel refreshed and energized on Monday.

#4: Download some new music.

Do you dread sitting in traffic on Monday morning? I do. I live in LA. The best way to remedy a slow and frustrating drive to work is some good jams. Take a couple of hours on Sunday evening to download that latest album you’ve been wanting to hear- it will give you something to look forward to in the morning.

#5: Get your chores out of the way on Saturday.

If the weekend is the only time to catch up on laundry, do your food shopping etc., get it all out of the way on Friday or Saturday. That way, you can look forward to Sundays being relaxing and stress-free. Want to watch a movie on Sunday night? Go for it- the house is clean, and you’re free to do what you please.
