Erase Tension With Chiropractic and Yoga
By Sandy Schroeder
If you feel tension in your neck, back, or hips all day every day, it's time to find the best natural solutions to put your body at ease.
The Joint Chiropractic clinic in your neighborhood staffs a wellness center with licensed chiropractors who can help you find relief.
See Your Chiropractor
When you see your chiropractor, you will find out how improved spinal health works throughout the body. The spine is needed to keep the body moving ahead and the central nervous system housed inside coordinates all of the systems that keep the body functioning.
Gentle focused spinal adjustments can align your spine to help you relax and move ahead. As you loosen up, you may sleep better, have more energy and enjoy fresh mental clarity.
Benefits are an individual thing. As you evaluate yours, you may want to use weekly 15-minute spinal adjustments to stay relaxed and try yoga stretching poses such as these from RealSimple.com
Your chiropractor can monitor your progress and watch for any glitches. As your wellness coach, the goal will be to take control of the tension to help your mind and body relax.
Let Yoga Ease the Tightness
If you sit too much and worry more, drain off some of that stress with simple yoga stretches like these that you can do at home whenever you need to.
Before beginning any new exercise routines, be sure to check with your doctor.
Hold each yoga pose for 4 to 6 breaths and feel the difference. If you have never tried yoga, watch a class online or in your area and speak with an instructor about your issues and goals and what will be needed.
Child's pose - Start on hands and knees on your mat to stretch hips, back, thighs, ankles and feet. Slowly sit back on heels. Lower chest and walk hands forward. Tuck in the chin and lower head to the floor. Take a few breaths and breathe deeply.
Cat/Cow pose - Calm the nervous system and stretch back muscles. Start on hands and knees and just let this pose flow back and forth with each breath. Inhale and tuck the tailbone under and tuck the chin in to the chest as you round the back up. Then exhale and lift the head and then flatten or slightly arch the back. Repeat 4 to 6 times.
If these work for you, consider trying more poses such as downward dog or rag doll to release tension.
