Pain: A Sign Something's Not Right in Our Body
By Stephen R. Farris
Pain is something we endure off and on during our lifetime. It could be injury-related, such as a minor scrape to a sprained ankle. It could simply be due to stressful situations we may face, causing headaches or upset stomachs. Whichever the case may be, pain is a warning light for our bodies.
We might take medication to relieve pain and that could turn the "light" off for a period of time, but if it stays on regardless, then it might be time to consult your doctor or chiropractor to see what's going on in your body.
Unfortunately, a lot of times we tend to ignore pain and hope it goes away all on its own. We may even try to tough it out when it continues at a constant level.
Take for instance you feel a sharpness in your lower back when you move a certain way. It may or may not go away. When it persists, your body will definitely give you a reminder about it. When it does linger for long periods of time, you should seek help. It could be something as simple as a pinched nerve or strained muscle.
However, worst case scenario, it may be something bigger like a herniated disc or sciatic nerve condition, especially if the pain generates from your lower-back down into your leg and foot area. That's where chiropractic care can play a big role in getting you back to your active lifestyle.
Chiropractic Solution
Talking with your chiropractor about your painful condition will help them better understand what they should be looking for and how it can be treated. Unlike some pain reducing measures that involve treatment through medication, chiropractic treatment is a natural solution to getting pain free.
They can also help in the areas of joint and muscle pain in your knees, ankles, wrists, elbows, shoulders and neck area, using spinal manipulation and other pain relieving techniques as well.
Chiropractors can also offer suggestions on exercise to try at home in between treatment sessions that can help speed up the healing process from your pain. They can advise you on nutrition too, so your joints and muscles are getting the proper nutrients and minerals needed to aid in the pain relieving process.
