4 Ways to Rid the Body of Toxins

By Brandi Swieter

One of the most interesting awareness periods of the year is Poison Prevention Week late March. Though this typically pertains to dangerous drugs and prescriptions, cleaning products, and other harsh chemicals that someone may accidentally -- or not so accidentally -- ingest, there are plenty of things people do that put toxins in their bodies that should also be considered. This time can serve as a reminder of the dangers of toxic foods and chemicals put into the body on a regular basis, such as nicotine and alcohol. With four ways to rid the body of toxins, people can be much more prepared to handle eliminating these noxious substances.

Drink Filtered Water

Simply drinking water is not enough. Even our water can contain toxic substances if it has not been properly filtered. Filtered water is the best to drink because it keeps out any harmful chemicals and allows only safe-to-drink liquid through the faucet. A special filter can be placed directly on the tap or a purifying pitcher can help people pour safer liquids.

Exercise Often

Unwanted substances can be eliminated through the skin. By sweating, people are actually ridding their bodies of harmful toxins and helping to restore balance within. All people should exercise often to gain health benefits, but those who have drank, smoke, or consumed unhealthy foods or content recently should be even more diligent about getting in a workout and working up a sweat to clear their bodies.

Improve Air Quality

It isn’t always about what is being put into the body. The air breathed in can also prove harmful if there are dust particles and pollen in it. People should do their part to improve air quality by having the ducts cleaned in their homes, dusting often, and walking or biking to work when possible rather than emitting pollutive gas from their vehicles.

Wash All Produce

Never eat fruits or vegetables directly from a tree or plant, or even from the store. There could be pesticides on them to keep insects away, and other unknown chemicals may have been used during the growing process. It’s best to wash all produce, no matter where it was found, to eliminate toxic chemicals and ensure you’re eating something truly healthy.

Toxins are everywhere, making it necessary for people to do all they can to eliminate anything harmful from their bodies. Eating healthy and exercising on occasion will not do. Individuals need to live a healthy lifestyle to ensure they do not allow poisonous substances to course through their veins and wreak havoc on their bodily systems, weakening the body and mind and allowing illness to set in regularly.
