Avoid These Fitness Mistakes
By Sara Butler
If you’re working out but still not meeting your personal goals, then something just isn’t clicking. Getting the results you want does take hard work, but it also takes some understanding. There are some very common mistakes people make both in and out of the gym that can crash their fitness dreams. Here are a few you need to make sure to avoid.
Mistake No. 1: Cardio is All You Do
While it might feel good to pound it out on the pavement four times a week or hit the treadmill at the gym to really get yourself sweating, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Cardio is important but so is muscle building and strength training. Add some weights to your workout routine and you may start to notice a difference!
Mistake No. 2: You Don’t Give Yourself Variety
Your body is a pretty smart, well-oiled machine. It will find ways to reserve calories, which is one of the reasons people tend to plateau when trying to get healthy. If you want to make progress, then you need to challenge yourself and constantly look for ways to up your game. Otherwise, your body will figure it out and do what it needs to do to hold on.
Mistake No. 3: You’re Not Committed
If you want results, then you need to be honest with yourself. You may go to the gym every day, but what are you putting on your plate? You need to look at your health and fitness journey through an honest lens and find exercises you enjoy and foods you enjoy too. This might take some trial and error but if your head isn’t in the game, then how can you expect your body to be? You’ll be much more inclined to stick to healthy choices if you hold yourself totally accountable both in and out of the gym.
Mistake No. 4: Diet Doesn’t Matter
Sometimes, people get stuck in a mindset that if they workout enough, then they don’t need to watch what they eat. That’s simply not true! Your diet is your primary tool for reaching your health and fitness goals and you just can’t out-train a terrible diet. You can undo your workout by not giving your body what it needs to get fitter. Make sure that quality fats, lean protein, and complex carbohydrates are a part of your diet.
A lot of people make assumptions about health and fitness that are just wrong. So, now that you know better, you can do better!
