Chiropractic Advice for October Observances

By Brandi Goodman

The autumn month of October holds an abundance of observances. There's plenty for you to enjoy, as long as you keep a few chiropractic tips in mind. Many of the celebrations can end in discomfort if you aren't careful.

Halloween

Halloween is, of course, the most commonly known observance for October. The holiday marks a fun time for many -- with spooky vibes and candy galore that so many people enjoy. The occasion may not be so ideal for some, though. If you're sending hubby up the ladder to hang Halloween decorations, for example, he may not enjoy the back pain that can sometimes stem from all the work. Having two people tackle the job, and getting things ready before they go up, can help.

Parents may also find it debilitating. A full night of trick-or-treating around the neighborhood can lead to discomfort as well. Make sure to wear athletic shoes so your feet and legs don't ache terribly by the end of it.

Healthy Lung Month

October is also when Healthy Lung Month takes place. The best chiropractic advice for this occasion is to get plenty of exercise. Aerobic exercise can benefit your lungs tremendously. It can improve your lung capacity and enhance your breathing. It also benefits your joints in the process, and can keep your body strong and active. It's a win for the chiropractor if he knows you're exercising regularly and taking good care of yourself.

World Mental Health Day

The 10th of October holds World Mental Health Day. This is a great day to see the chiropractor. When your mental health is struggling, you may need some help de-stressing. An adjustment can ease some tension you're feeling and help you relax both your body and mind. It also gives you some time away from other duties when you're focusing on getting the care your own body and mind require to feel your best.

Bone and Joint Health National Action Week

A week focusing on bone and joint health is definitely supported by chiropractors. Bone and Joint Health National Action Week encourages people everywhere to learn how to better care for their bodies -- especially if you're facing joint pain or problems. Participate by making changes to your habits that will help. You may need to get an ergonomic chair for your office, adjust how you sleep, or work on improving your posture.

Celebrate October observances with your health in mind. You don't have to end up in pain trying to enjoy the occasion. Keep these chiropractic tips in mind, and you'll be more likely to enjoy them and end your day feeling great. Still feeling sore? Visit The Joint to get an assessment.
