Dr. John Lofgren, the son of Swedish immigrants, grew up on a farm in northwestern Illinois close to the Mississippi river. He attended Augustana College with the intention of going to medical school. After learning about and studying chiropractic care and the way it can be used to improve quality of life for so many people, Dr. Lofgren adjusted his career path, graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1987.

After practicing in Illinois, he moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1989, working as an associate chiropractor. He opened his own practice in 1992 and provided care, treatment, and relief to hundreds of patients before closing the practice to work at The Joint in August 2017. Dr. Lofgren began working for The Joint’s Fredericksburg clinic in August 2021 where he is the Clinic Director.

He has a daughter who lives with her husband and 2 children in Richmond where she works as a nurse anesthetist. Dr. Lofgren also resides in the Richmond area where he regularly attends church and enjoys active nature sports.

Dr. Stephen Kieselbach is originally from Florida but has lived in Virginia for thirteen years. He has worked at Joint clinics in northern Virginia, Richmond, Florida, and Alaska before joining us as a full time Chiropractor at our Fredericksburg clinic.

He attended Life Chiropractic College, in Marietta, Georgia and graduated in 1999. He started off in a very busy clinic in New York City in 1999 and has been practicing for over 20 years.

Dr. Kieselbach says “The best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to help people and positively impact their lives every day!”

His hobbies include almost anything that involves working with his hands. He has one son.

Dr. Matthew Foster was born and raised in a small town called Forest, located in Southwest Virginia, where he strived to help make a change and give back to his local community. Dr. Foster has been able to give back in many ways, from helping aspire younger generations by teaching Anatomy & Physiology at the local community college, to being involved and volunteering in various civic organizations that include: Rotary Club, Ruritan Club, local Chamber of Commerce, and being a Master Freemason.

As a sophomore football player at Jefferson Forest High School, Dr. Matthew Foster sustained injuries in the weight room. Unfortunately, he had trouble finding true relief. After going through specialty stretches, physical therapy, and pain medication, the pain was merely masked rather than relieved. Finally, he paid a visit to a Chiropractor in Bedford, VA. After seeing the miracle-like effect a chiropractic adjustment can have on a healing body, Matthew discovered his future career.

“The chiropractic profession, where you can heal people with your hands, is almost biblical.” Says Dr. Foster, “My uncle Paul Foster is a physician’s assistant and was a big role model for me growing up. I remember him always talking about how many people come through the office seeking pain medications.”

Knowing the toll that pain medication takes on your body, Dr. Foster set out on his mission to heal people with his hands.

Dr. Matthew Foster attended Liberty University for his undergraduate degree in Education and continued on to his chiropractic education at the renowned Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida. Dr. Matthew Foster completed his preceptorship and began practicing as a licensed chiropractor at Tuck Chiropractic Clinic in Bedford, VA in the Fall of 2017.

Dr. Foster has had the opportunity to explore some of the alternative methods to administering chiropractic care beyond spinal manipulation, He is certified to administer dry needling, activator methods, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and Epley’s Technique for vertigo, along with many other techniques. Dr. Foster is excited to be in Fredericksburg, VA and enjoys the opportunity to work with patients at the Joint Chiropractic clinic locations. He hopes to continue to build relationships within the Spotsylvania County community and surrounding areas.

Some fun facts about Dr. Foster: 1) He received the “Most likely to succeed” award from his peers while attending Palmer Chiropractic College. 2) He received a standing ovation and honored badge for applying the lifesaving Heimlich maneuver to a citizen. 3) He was the youngest college professor to instruct Anatomy & Physiology at the collegiate level in VA. 4) Enjoys spending his free time outdoors from kayaking to hiking new trails.
