Solve Your Sleep Problems
By Sara Butler
There are a ton of different kinds of mattresses on the market today. How do you know which is the best for you? Well, aside from classic considerations of the type of support you need for your spine, there are issues that can impact the quantity and quality of the sleep you get. These issues can be resolved with certain types of mattresses. Here’s what you should know to get the mattress you need to sleep better at night!
Sleep Problem No. 1: You Get Hot at Night
Do you wake up drenched in sweat? Well, if you tend to burn hot at night and have trouble staying asleep because of it, then you should stay away from foam mattresses and stick with a coil model. Most experts agree that around 68 degrees Fahrenheit is the perfect temperature for sleep, so if you overheat in your bed, it will cause you to wake up at night. Coil mattresses are more breathable and won’t trap in your body heat as bad as a foam mattress.
Sleep Problem No. 2: You Move Around a Lot at Night
One of the best features of a foam mattress is its ability to mold to your body. That means it is offering you support when, and where, you need it, and it keeps you from being too active of a sleeper and constantly seeking a more comfortable position. The stabilization that foam offers is really good for people with low back pain or spinal disc issues, because moving around too much at night will generally make these problems worse.
Foam mattresses are also great if your partner keeps you away by tossing and turning. They don’t transfer motion like a regular coil mattress does, so their flipping and flopping are less likely to disturb your sleep.
Sleep Problem No. 3: You Can’t Decide
When in doubt, the experts think that foam is the best option. It has so many advantages that it’s at least worth a try. Plus, there are so many different kinds available that allow you to test the bed out risk-free for a period of time that it makes it worth a shot for a purchase this large. If you find that a foam mattress doesn’t work for you or your sleep problems, you can get your money back and go find a mattress that does the job you need to be done!
