It Takes a Village ... and a Chiropractor
By Donna Kostiew
I’m sure the majority of us have heard the expression “it takes a village.” It is often said when people are discussing parenting issues or are offering support while raising children, but I would like to propose that it can also be applied to the times when you see your local chiropractor. You see, your body is similar to the exasperated parent … in that sometimes, it needs all the support it can get. So don’t you think it is time to give your body the support it needs? It certainly has worked hard enough to deserve it.
Your Body is a Workhorse
Our bodies were designed for it, but the hard work you put your body through every day can take its toll. From work to play, and all the Herculean tasks in between, it’s no wonder that signs of decline in the body end up seeping through. When the spine is out of alignment, your body cannot function at its best. Pain and illness are usually the first and most obvious signs we see when something is amuck. Fortunately, your local chiropractor at The Joint Chiropractic can help.
There is Always a Chiropractor in Your Village
Sometimes you just need to see your chiropractor to get the support and extra help your body needs. Realigning the spine helps your body in so many ways. Let’s look at a few here.
- Opens your communication pathways - When your alignment is off, your body will still function, but the pathways for all of its communications become less efficient. Your feelings, movements, behavior, responses, and everything you do goes from your brain, through your spinal cord, to its final destination. Whether the action is involuntary (breathing) or intentional (jumping over a puddle), you need those pathways to be clear. The adjustments your chiropractor performs will remove any joint restrictions that may be impeding these lines of communication, thereby improving your body’s function immediately.
- Offers structural support – One of the primary functions of your spine is to offer basic physical support to your body. When your spine is out of alignment, some of that structural support is lost. Back and neck pain, increased stress on joints, and abnormal muscle function are just a few of the problems that come as a result. Chiropractic care helps to prevent this by improving the position you hold your body so that it can function better with less strain and discomfort.
- Improves overall health – Your spine offers protection for your spinal cord, which is where the communications between your brain and your respiratory, circulatory, nervous, lymphatic, and immune systems travel through. The adjustments provided by your chiropractor help to maintain healthy communication lines between all of these by removing any joint restrictions that are preventing them from working properly.
The alignment of the spine obviously has a significant impact on what you do and how well your body performs so give it the support it needs.
