Fish Oil for Better Health?
By Stephen R. Farris
The stores are filled with a variety of vitamins and supplements. There's powders to help you gain weight and lose it. Different brands of bottled vitamins from A to zinc, and supplements available in liquid form as well as capsules.
There are pills to help with joint and cartilage repair, to improve your memory, boost your energy and increase libido. Whatever we're deficient in, there's usually a vitamin or supplement available to help with most anything going on inside our bodies.
Most nutritionists will tell you the best route to go in getting the vitamins and supplementation you need is through the foods you eat, especially foods that are green in color like broccoli, spinach or asparagus, to name a few.
However, there might be one item you may not have thought about taking that could provide health benefits for your body. It's called omega-3. In layman's terms, fish oil.
Keeping the Heart Pumping
One of the causes of heart disease can be from high levels of triglycerides. Taking fish oil on a regular basis can help prevent stroke and sudden cardiac arrest, plus it can cut down on triglycerides from building up in your bloodstream.
Thinking More Clearly
Fish oil is one of the good fats we benefit from, and another area where it helps with is by improving memory by stimulating brain cell growth. Our brains need nutrients and certain chemicals to properly function. Fish oil can help with both and keep the nerves associated with communication and messaging to our brains uninterrupted and functioning as they should.
More About Them Bones
As we grow older, our bones tend to become weaker to the point that diseases such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis can set in. Taking fish oil regularly can help keep our mineral levels up in our bones, making them less weak and likely to break if we fall, for instance.
And of course, there are plenty of powders and pills out there on the market that may not be good for our bodies. The good, and the bad. It's hard to decide, but doing your homework is the best way to learn what is or isn't good.
