What You Do Should Be A Factor With Workout Clothes
By Tom Herrin
Many times people just get dressed in the old standard for working out. This may be fine if they do the exact same workout in the exact same conditions all of the time. It probably works for a regular exercise class. If they vary any of that, they may need to rethink their plan. With the amount of available choices today, there is no reason to stay in a rut. The type of exercise as well as the weather should be major considerations when choosing attire.
Some Activities Call For Change
There may be a time when loose fitting clothes are needed. For some who are running or jogging, loose fitting clothes are a good choice. Large and/or loose legs in such clothing, however, can get in the way of some. It can be a nuisance, at the least, to have the legs flapping constantly as people run. Many of the more refined kinds of workouts, such as yoga, may be better served by wearing more fitted clothes. As a bicycle rider, I prefer clothes to be loose enough to move well but not so much as to catch the wind. Clothes flapping in the wind excessively while riding a bike can discourage the effort. That becomes counterproductive.
Most Warm Weather Exercise Calls For Breathable Materials
People can work up a lot of perspiration in a workout, especially in warmer temperatures. Sweat serves the function of cooling the body. If a material holds it very much, the clothes may begin to get in the way. Fabrics that wick away moisture can be pretty comfortable. They dry faster, which allows the body to cool by what is known as the cooling rate of evaporation. This means the rate at which something dries will actually make the temperature drop faster.
Planning Works
If people really want to have a successful program, they have to plan. This is not only for the exercise and conditioning, but also how the clothes they wear can help or hinder what they do. Their clothes need to allow for the right kind of movement as well as maintaining the right kind of temperature. If you are really serious about working out, you may want to add more planning for your workout clothes than just style. It could help you to have additional success.
