Go All Out with Fall Activities for Health
By Tom Herrin
While most people look forward to summer, by the time it is over, many of them are more than ready for a change. The fall, with its cooler days and pleasant nights, becomes a perfect time to get started again on a better fitness plan. It is far less stressful and easier on the body for people to participate in exercise in the fall. This may provide opportunities for people to get started without the fear of becoming overheated or unable to have enough endurance to complete an activity.
Do A Little Bicycle Riding
Even for people who haven’t ridden a bike in a long time, it is one of those things that they never forget how to do. It is also a low-impact activity, and people can go at whatever pace is comfortable for them. This makes it an ideal exercise regardless of age. There is really nothing quite like the feel of riding in the fresh fall air. People can easily burn a few hundred calories in an hour of riding. The only real conditioning required will be getting used to the seat again.
Mazes Are a Lot of Fun
There seems to be an increasing popularity in corn mazes. Signs for them can be seen all around. Whether it is alone or in groups, people can have plenty of fun with them. Participating involves using the mind to find a way out while walking, jogging, or running around. Many people make a practice of visiting as many as possible during the season. Fun and exercise here can be a winning combination. It provides a good break from the regular grind.
Try Doing Routine Things Outdoors
Taking your work or hobby outside can be a nice change of pace. Whether it is reading, painting, knitting, or some other thing, it can have an entirely different feel when you do it out in natural light. The cool air can be stimulating as you gain a new perspective on whatever it is. It can increase your mental awareness. If you put this with some of your increased physical activity, you may be able to expect results with better overall health. The fall is a great time for it, and it never hurts to improve your physical and mental fitness any time of year.
