Body, Mind, Spirit: A Small One-Day Life Upgrade
By Chris Brown
If you're like me, every once in a while, nothing feels right. On those days, I can't think, my body aches, and I feel drained both spiritually and emotionally. In this busy modern culture, we all need a little rejuvenation on occasion and drained days are my body's way of calling out for help. Luckily, there are some quick, one-day activities to refresh your body, mind, and spirit.
Body: Treat Yourself to a Chiropractic Adjustment
Chiropractic care is as effective for prevention as it is for injury treatment. Even if currently pain-free, adjustments help ward off future pain and give the body a lighter, more mobile feel. Think of chiropractic as an exercise in self-love with the benefit of released joint pressure and increased blood flow to the brain. It is also an opportunity to speak to a doctor about improving bodily habits and posture throughout the day.
The Joint Chiropractic offers consultations and adjustments for walk-in patients at affordable prices. They will be happy to see you at any time, with or without current pain. Consult a doctor at The Joint today to treat yourself to a better, more mobile, you.
Mind: Take an Hour to Learn Something New
Falling down a YouTube rabbit hole doesn't have to be a waste of time. Take that hour of brainless scrolling (we all know you have at least one) to focus instead on a subject you've always wanted to learn. Research the subject by watching videos, reading articles, or joining a social media page for fellow enthusiasts. You can access the same diversionary applications you would be using regardless, but, now, with a purpose. Not only will you be relaxed and ready to return to work or errands after this break, but you'll learn something new in the process.
Spirit: Go Out into Nature
There is a spiritual rejuvenation that comes from leaving the computer and entering nature. Stress reduction, improved memory and cognition, and faster healing are all benefits of walking in nature, as found in a study highlighted by SelectHealth.org. The real benefit of entering nature, however, is that intangible spiritual relaxation that must be experienced to be fully understood. Luckily, in America, there are almost always green spaces within driving distance, even in cities. If the natural world is still too far, finding a patch of grass to lay on can have many of the same benefits as an excursion into the outback.
