Make Sun Protection Easy With These Tips

The sun is both friend and foe. A lot of people love the sun -- the warmth, the light, the general feeling of a day spent in the sun. There's something about a bright sunshiny day that just feels good. But the sun can also be dangerous. Too much sun can lead to sun spots, premature wrinkles, sunburns, and even cancer. Luckily, it's possible to have the best of both worlds. You just have to be smart about it. If you need to protect your skin so that you can enjoy the sun, take a look at these simple tips. 

Make Sunscreen a Morning Habit

Morning habits tend to stick. We wake up, shower, get dressed. We drink coffee, eat breakfast, pack our stuff for work. And we tend to do these in the same order every day. They become routine. If we add sunscreen to our morning routine, it becomes a part of what we do -- and therefore we're not likely to skip it. Add it just before your moisturizer (or buy a moisturizer with sunscreen in it!), and you'll be off to a great start every day. 

Carry Layers With You

Layers can do wonders for blocking out the sun. Carry a jacket or wrap. Keep pants or leggings in your car. Keep scarves and head gear. One of the best ways to protect our skin is to simply keep the sun off of it altogether, and layers can certainly help you achieve this goal. 

Make Glasses and Hats Part of Your Style

A lot of people struggle with layers because they're not used to it. If you really want to protect your skin, try to make glasses and hats a part of your style. Embrace different looks and incorporate these skin saving elements into your wardrobe. Will it take some time? Of course. It takes time to get used to anything new. But with patience and consistency, you can make sun protection a part of who you are and what you look like on a daily basis. 

Embrace Moderation

Let's face it: Moderation is key to just about everything when it comes to health. And to fully protect the skin, we really do have to embrace this key concept. We can't spend all day every day in the sun. We have to get some exposure and then cover up or get in the shade. We have to wear sunscreen even for brief moments. Our skin is too important to take for granted! Use moderation to protect it for the long-term. 

The sun can be good. We need it for light and warmth and good moods and much needed Vitamin D. But we certainly have to be careful. Too much sun is damaging. Luckily, we can have the best of both worlds! Use these tips to protect your skin while still enjoying the goodness that comes with a little time spent in wonderful sunshine.
