Staying Too Dry May Be a Health Risk

The term that something is drying up often means that it is losing its resources.  Whether it is mental activity or a talent pool or some other thing, the idea of something drying up usually indicates a negative situation.  The same thing could be said when it pertains to health.  If people become dry, in that they fail to take in enough fluid, it could be harmful.  While many fluids may be helpful, water is generally the best.  It may play a major role in health.  Water is obviously a life-saving resource, but it can serve several good purposes people may not actually realize.

It Is Necessary to Maximize Physical Performance

While most people are likely aware of the role water plays in physical activity, they may not really understand the details.  Coaches and trainers today are well-aware of the need for water and how to best have a constant supply.  In some cases, even a loss of as little as 2 percent of a person's body water can have a measurable effect on them.  Those who have heavy workouts may lose as much as 10 percent of that water in a day's time.  This can cause a change in body temperature, loss of some mental capacity, confusion, and a variety of other things.  The right kind of water breaks can help to maximize a workout.

Water May Help With Digestive Regularity

Many people have issues with their digestion.  Some of this may be helped by taking in more water.  It can add bulk to the food that is being digested and keep the system more regular.  This means less discomfort with that feeling of being bloated or bogged down.  Water can make almost everything work better.  For those who take any kind of regular supplements or medication, lots of water can often help in diluting and digesting those.  

It May Be the Easy Way to Manage Weight

There are times when we feel starved and are actually thirsty instead.  Drinking more water more frequently can help to make people to feel fuller.  This may help them to eat less.  I try to drink at least a full glass before I go to bed at night and another one when I get up in the morning.  There are times that it means an extra trip to the bathroom in the night, but I will drink some more water if I do.  As we get older, many of us have a tendency for our blood to become thicker, which may create some circulation issues.  Drinking more water may help this as well.  The bottom line is to avoid letting yourself get too dry.
