Fun Things Can Support Good Health

By Tom Herrin

In order to make the most of our opportunities to have the best health possible, most of us recognize that we need to exercise.  If we take it in small steps, we will probably make good progress and have the success we seek.  We often hit bumps in the road when we become tired of the exercise routine that we have.  At that point, we may look for something else to motivate us or give up and begin to backslide.  The last thing we need to do is slack off.  When we find that exercise has become too much of a grind, we should remember that there are all kinds of things that can serve the same purpose.  If we just look, we will find them.

Jump on a Trampoline

If you have ever spent much time on a trampoline, you know just how much fun it can be.  It is one of those few things that can make you feel really free as you bounce and move.  This can provide some pretty good exercise as you play.  Of course, you will need to be careful and start slow, but the results can be good.  The mini trampolines available today are small and extremely portable.  They can be stored anywhere and are very lightweight.  They are a good accessory for exercising.

Do You Enjoy Swimming?

Many people limit their swimming to the summer when they can be outdoors.  With the abundance of pools today, you can always find one.  Many people swim laps daily.  It can be little or no stress on the joints, and it is something that is generally not restricted due to age.  Many people swim up into their 80s and 90s.  It may be a good change from traditional exercise programs.

Do You Enjoy Challenges?

There are quite a few activities that can be done if you like to have some adventure.  One of those is rock climbing.  Even though it may sound like you will be scaling a big mountain, there are plenty of places to do rock climbing that are quite tame.  Many parks offer safe places to climb.  Several of these also rent equipment.  Some even provide instruction.  There are all kinds of safety measures in place so you can feel good about it.  Rock climbing will require you to use lots of muscles, but it is not so strenuous that only powerlifters can do it.  If you would like to experience something a little different, give this activity a try.
