Battle the Bloat With These Foods
By Genevieve Cunningham
There’s no worse feeling than being big and bloated. The bloated sensation can strike at anytime, and it can make fitting into your own clothes, moving around, and even sitting quite miserable. Fortunately, there are some remedies for bloating that can make you look and feel much more comfortable. If you’re stuck with bloat a little too often, take a look at these foods to add to your diet as soon as today.
Cranberries
You may have heard that cranberries are great for clearing the body of toxins. They aid in the function of the kidneys, which is why many people reach for these to fight off kidney infections. For clearing bloat, the concept is the same. Cranberries help to filter the fluid in the body. And considering that sometimes bloat can be caused by excess fluid, this lowers the fluid level and leaves you feeling far less bloated or waterlogged.
Leafy Greens
Many times, bloat is nothing more than air trapped in the digestive tract. Dark leafy greens, things such as lettuce, kale, and collards, can help to move digestion and clear out the digestive tract. Eating greens every day keeps digestion moving which may help to keep the tract clean and prevent the bloat from returning. And considering this is a healthy food for the body as a whole, eating them often leaves you in a win-win situation.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a great way to start the day … especially if you’re looking to avoid that bloated feeling all day. Just whip up some oatmeal for breakfast, add a touch of sweetener, and enjoy. Do your best to stick with regular oats … not the instant flavored kind of oatmeal. These little packets are packed full of sugar and sweetener, which negates the positive effects of the oatmeal. Eating this is a great way to begin the day healthy and fight off bloat all in one easy move.
Just because you have a little bloat doesn’t mean that you have to just live with it and wait for it to disappear. Bloat can be painful and uncomfortable, so taking action is a much better choice. The best option is to get proactive by improving your diet. With the right foods, you can banish bloat and improve the way that your body feels in no time at all.
