3 Simple Tricks for Improving Weight Loss

By Genevieve Cunningham

In the modern, fast-paced, easy access world that we live in, carrying around a little extra weight is really common. Most people have the desire and the need to drop some weight. But when it comes to actually carrying out a weight loss plan, things get complicated. We're short on time. We don't have the money or the knowledge. Most of the time, what we actually lack is perseverance. But luckily, there may be a few ways to make the process easier. If you're ready to lose weight, but you need an easier approach, take a look at these simple (but not easy) tricks for making weight loss work for you.

Stop Eating at Night

The body needs a rest from eating. When we eat too late at night, our bodies don't have time to burn that energy before bedtime. Instead, we sleep with those calories. Try to stop eating at a certain time every night. Make it a time that works for you -- that way you can stick with it. Stop eating, and then allow your body to go food-free for 10, 12, even 14 hours. When you wake up in the morning, your body will be forced to burn your stored energy (fat), and this can lead to faster weight loss.

Drink Water With Every Meal (and Snack)

Every time that you reach for food, reach for water too. At first, this is going to make you feel full and bloated, but that sensation won't last. Drinking water every time you eat helps do two important things. First, it keeps your stomach full. Why does this matter? Because a full stomach consumes less food. Second, it improves digestion. When digestion is improved, it forces your metabolism to kick into gear, and it also empties the gut so that bloating and discomfort is minimized. This is a great habit to include into your routine whether you're trying to lose weight or not.

Be Mindful

This isn't as easy as it sounds, but if you can manage to be completely present, you can really improve your life. When you're eating, try not to think about anything else. Taste the food, be aware of the feelings in your body, and stay in the moment. Why does this even matter? Because when we're mindful, we often eat less. We realize we don't need quite as much as we thought, and we lose weight. This also works during exercise. Be present during each move, and focus on doing the move correctly. Quality over quantity! In doing so, you'll work your muscles properly and help your body function more efficiently. In the long run, this can help you sculpt the body in a more mindful fashion.

It's true that it takes time and effort to lose weight. It's true that bodybuilders put a lot of thought and energy into the process. But it's also true that the simple act of dropping pounds can be simplified. Use these tricks to enhance the weight loss process in your life, and you'll be headed toward better health before you know it.
