3 Effective Ways to Curb Your Appetite
By Genevieve Cunningham
Hunger is no joke. For many people, being hungry is almost a staple of everyday life. It seems as though no matter how much you eat, your stomach is constantly growling! If this is you, then you may also notice that your waistline has grown over time. All of that food has to go somewhere, and unless you’re super active, it probably hangs around as excess weight. So what can you do? It might be beneficial to learn how to curb your hunger. If you need some help getting rid of that hungry feeling throughout the day, take a look at these tips.
Drink Plenty of Water
Water is really good for the body. It keeps you hydrated, clears the skin, and moves digestion. And for those with hunger pangs, it can keep you feeling full. Many times, those hunger pains are actually thirst pains anyway. The next time you feel like you’re hungry, drink an entire cup of water and see how you feel. Chances are good that you’ll be able to skip the needless snack and will feel better with the water instead.
Eat Snacks
Instead of waiting four or five hours between big meals, keep small, low calorie snacks on hand. A couple of hours after breakfast, grab a handful of nuts, a rice cake, or a piece of fruit. These small snacks help keep the metabolism moving, and they also keep you feeling full. With this approach, you’ll be able to avoid that famished feeling, and instead, you’ll feel satisfied without eating too many calories throughout the day.
Eat Enough Fiber
Fiber is a filling substance. When you eat foods that are high in fiber, it keeps the stomach feeling full. These kinds of foods might include beans and lentils, berries, broccoli, pears, avocado, almonds, and chickpeas. The list could go on for miles! Just do your research, stock your kitchen and snack bag with fiber filled foods, and enjoy that satisfied feeling in your stomach.
No one wants to feel hungry all day, especially if those hunger feelings are leading to an increase in weight. Use these tips to keep your stomach full and your mind satisfied. If you plan ahead and eat the right foods, you don’t have to be hungry or gain unnecessary weight. Get a handle on your hunger, and better health will be right around the corner.
