Count Fish in for Better Health

Finding the magic formula for a healthy diet may be different for everyone.  One reason is that there is no magic formula.  Each individual is just that, and they have individual needs.  Some of the more constant things likely include those foods that have certain nutrients that are essential for all.  One of those that has quite a few nutrients without having so many of the bad things is fish.  People in many places rely on fish as their primary source of protein.  On the other hand, those who have diets that are heavily based on foods such as beef, pork, or some other meat sometimes tend to end up with too much bad fat and not enough of the nutrients they need to maintain their health.  Having more fish may improve a diet for anyone.

It May Reduce the Reduce the Risks of Heart Disease

Many people suffer from heart disease and stroke.  It may be from genetics or lifestyle, but it may be something that people can have an effect on with their own choices.  Observations have been made that people who eat fish appear to have fewer heart attacks, strokes, and deaths from heart disease.  A study of more than 40,000 men who ate fish at least once per week found that they had a 15 percent lower risk of heart disease.  Much of this is believed to be due to eating those fatty fish with greater amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

It May Protect the Brain

Many people are worried about losing mental function as they age.  There is legitimate concern about dementia.  Some studies have shown that people who eat fish regularly have more grey matter in some of the centers of the brain.  This material has to do with memory, processing information, and emotions.  Preserving may be a key to saving mental abilities to a significant extent.

It Can Make Popular Meals

I haven't seen many kids who did not like fish sticks.  Many times, when people feel they don't like fish, it is because of the way it is prepared.  Most enjoy some kind of tuna, whether it is on sandwiches, salads, or casseroles.  Our family always likes salmon.  Many kinds of fish are good broiled, grilled, or baked.  Whatever kind you and your family prefers, try adding it to your diet more often.  It may make a marked difference in your health.
