Time Can Be With You or Against You
By Tom Herrin
When people think about time and all of the various things involved in managing it, it may seem pretty daunting. How anyone uses time can affect how successful they are in all of their endeavors. Trying to get more done with what they have to work with is anyone and everyone's problem. There are few secrets that will make a serious difference in the outcome. For those who try to exercise, there are kind of two groups. There are those who can rarely find enough time for them to exercise, so they more often skip it. Then there are those who feel that they have to put everything they have into it, sometimes at the expense of many of the other things they are committed to. It may be possible to have the best of both if they approach it in the right way.
Runners Can Cut Time
Many people feel that they need to run for a long period of time in order to get the most out of it. Studies have shown that people may be able to run seven minutes per day and still have measurable health benefits from it. In some of these studies, those who did this may reduce their risks of dying from heart disease by as much as 45 percent. This allows runners to fit a decent run into a busy schedule. Those who always struggle with this can have little reason to avoid doing much as they can likely squeeze those seven minutes in someplace if they will simply plan ahead.
Intensity May Be Increased and Time Shortened
Some have bought into the idea that they may be able to do whatever their normal activity is in much less time but spurts of greater intensity. They may do this by spending a matter of seconds going hard at an exercise followed by a few minutes of moderation. The results of this kind of routine have been good while participants have been able to complete their session in only about 10 minutes.
Be Yourself
Just like the genie in the movie Aladdin often said, it is best to be what you are. In deciding just how to design your personal program, it is critical to make it fit you and what you want to be. I enjoy playing with ideas to make something work for me, and I have had good success with shortening my workout while still getting some real benefits. Try to customize yours and add time to your day.
