When Stress Builds, Chiropractic May Help

By Sandy Schroeder

A little stress may keep us up for the day’s challenges. A lot of stress can undermine everything we do. Finding that magic balance can be tricky.

Health experts tell us we may be able to handle short shots of stress, but it is much more difficult to manage constant stress. Most of us field our daily jobs, take care of our families, and enjoy our lives. If that flow changes, and stress begins to build, it can impact our health and spill over onto our normal routines.

If your stress is continuing to build, pausing, regrouping, and putting good resources in place could be invaluable. Find out what chiropractic can do and consider adding it to your health care support system.

The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you offers a wellness center with licensed chiropractors who are well equipped to help. They see a mix of children, adults and seniors on a daily basis.

Seeing Your Chiropractor

When you come in for the first time, your chiropractor will start with your issues, questions and any existing pain that you may have. There will be questions about your normal routines and medical history. Basically, compiling some background information like a general practitioner would do if seeing a patient for the first time.

If a spinal adjustment seems beneficial, it will be done in an open bay area on a comfortable table. The adjustment is accomplished through the gentle application of a targeted movement to improve range of motion of the body’s spinal column and extremities. Relief may be achieved, soothing nerve irritations and improving mobility. At the same time, you may find a new overall rhythm. Patients also report feeling less stressed, having more energy, or experiencing better sleep. What happens is the central nervous system, encased in the spinal column, moves toward an optimum state; the CNS controls everything you do, so when it's optimum, you're optimum. That means you should be able to think more clearly, too. The potential benefits not only help in your personal life, but your professional and social life.

A Wellness Path

Wellness is unique to the individual. As you assess your results, you and your chiropractor can put together an overall plan. You may choose weekly 15-minute adjustment sessions, coupled with stress-reducing tactics such as daily meditations, short walks, or reduced work schedules.

This may be a good time to take brief breaks from your electronics, turning off the phone at dinner, and turning it off for the night. Establishing a regular bedtime and creating a sleep haven, minus tobacco, alcohol and electronics could help. Wind down with soft music, reading and warm baths, or a low-fat dairy snack and a book.

If your stress persists, see your physician and recommended counselors to continue to work on stress issues.

The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you makes everything simple. An affordable care program eliminates the need for insurance. No appointments are needed, and evening and weekend hours are available.
