Stress Solutions to Get You Through the Year
By Brandi Goodman
Stress is all-too-common in many people's lives. It can be tough to beat it and put stress out of your mind so you can make it through your day. With some stress solutions in your arsenal, however, you should be able to get through the year as unscathed as possible.
Add in Exercise Whenever You Can
Exercise is a known stress reliever. It boosts endorphins and leaves you feeling good since the tension is eliminated. Add in exercise whenever you can -- especially on extra stressful days. Walk or bike to work. Take a walk on your lunch break. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Go for a swim at your local fitness center.
Keep Stress Out of Your Home
If you're feeling stressed at work, taking that tension home won't help. It will only aid in the stress you're feeling. Keep stress out of your home however possible so you do not feel overwhelmed and upset at every part of your day. Keep your house clean and organized as well so you do not come home to a burden. This will only heighten your anxiety and make matters worse if you've had a hard day as it is.
Grab Healthy Foods When You're Feeling Stressed
It's too easy to grab junk when you're feeling stressed out. Many people turn to ice cream, donuts, cookies, and other unhealthy foods when they want some stress relief. This will only lead to further stress down the line as your waist grows. Turn to healthy foods when you're feeling stressed to combat this. Eat a sweet potato with a bit of cinnamon. Eat some carrots and low-fat ranch. There are nutritional options out there that can boost your physical and mental well-being.
Improve Your Sleep Routine
Poor sleep is a significant cause of stress. You need to improve your sleep routine and get adequate rest each night if you hope to keep stress at bay. Do your best to go to bed at the same time each night, and wake at the same time each morning. Diffuse lavender essential oil and fall asleep with the help of aromatherapy. Wear a sleep mask to keep any light out of your eyes. There's plenty of ways to make sleep more easily achievable.
Don't stress about stress. Use these solutions to help conquer it and get through the year with as little tension, overwhelming anxiety, and hard times as possible. Stress can affect your health more than you know, so keeping it at bay is best for your physical and mental well-being.
