There Are Some Odd Activities for Boosting Health
By Tom Herrin
Most of the time, when we think about doing some kind of exercise, it is the standard stuff in which you have lots of reps and go through some sort of set routine. For some people, this is great because it is something they can count on. Many others, however, can't quite get comfortable with this kind of routine. They prefer something different. They may do much better with variety. In this case, there are all kinds of activities that can provide better incentive to get out and work out and look forward to doing so each time.
Try a Trampoline
As kids, most of us thought that jumping on a trampoline was a lot of fun, but we probably never thought of it as exercise. Even after we spent some time jumping and found ourselves tired out, we may not have made the connection. There are some lightweight trampolines today that can easily be moved around and stored. They are pretty popular for individual exercise. The fact is that we will often try something on a trampoline that we would never do otherwise. It can be a low-stress workout with some good results.
Power Walking
You have probably seen people all around doing some power walking. They will be working their arms as they move their legs. There are several good things about this activity. One is that you can do it almost anywhere. Another is that you don't have to be in great condition at the start. You simply need commitment and a good pair of shoes. You will want to carry some water with you so that you don't have to interrupt your activity to get a drink. It can help to improve endurance and strengthen the legs. You can also easily vary what you do by choosing different kinds of terrain.
Climb Rocks
A lot of people have probably never even thought about rock climbing as something they may try. It can sound a little intimidating, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. It can be safely done if you take the right kind of precautions and get some training. Many parks and natural areas have places that are dedicated to this activity. They may also offer equipment rentals and lessons. You will need to have the right shoes and clothing, but it isn't anything all that expensive. You can have a lot of fun, and you will naturally get in shape because you will have to in order to do it.
