The Biggest Exercise Tip You Need for Better Health
By Genevieve Cunningham
When it comes to exercise, there are a million different pieces of advice and a million different theories. It can be really hard to know which to choose. Which to follow. Which will be best for your body. And honestly, sometimes having so many choices actually works to our disadvantage. We get overwhelmed, and this leads to feelings of inadequacy and failure. But exercise doesn't have to be so complicated. In fact, if your goal is better health, it can be really, really simple! If you would like to simplify exercise in your life, take a look at the one tip you need to be successful long-term.
The Most Effective Tip
So what exactly is the most effective tip? You may think the secret is heavy weights. Or if you're a cardio buff, you may suspect that it's running or sprints or high intensity interval training. And all of those exercises are good! But the secret is actually incredibly simple: Move your body. The body simply needs movement -- in whatever way you can manage. It's movement that helps burn calories and build muscles and maintain flexibility. It's movement that improves our mood. If you're overthinking the exercise process, just throw it all out the window and simply move. After you get moving for a while, you can pinpoint your goals and make a specific plan to get there.
What Kind of Exercise Can We Do?
If you already know your goals, you may be ready to jump into a particular exercise -- and that's fine too. If your goal is to look like a bodybuilder, you're going to have to lift heavy weights and burn fat through cardio. If you like the long and lean look, you may need lighter weights and interval training. If you're not sure, there are a million exercises to choose from. A few options include: running, yoga, dance, aerobics, swimming, cycling, walking, and Pilates. And that's just a tip of the iceberg! Do a little research, find a routine that you like, and keep your body moving to see results.
It's tempting to make exercise a complicated process. It's tempting to worry and obsess over finding the perfect routine. But unless you have very specific goals, don't worry about all that. Just move! Getting your body up and moving is the hardest part, and once you've mastered a little activity, you can take your health in any direction you like.
